Match Preview

Liverpool's 3-0 demolition of Manchester United highlighted Mohamed Salah's brilliance once again, though it also added speculation around his future. Salah, who contributed two assists and scored a goal in that match, hinted that he might be preparing for his final season at Anfield. Should the Egyptian leave in 2024, his latest masterclass will be a memorable chapter in his Liverpool career.

The victory over United was significant for Liverpool’s new boss Arne Slot. It marked three consecutive league wins for the first time under his management – something Jürgen Klopp only achieved once in his eight full seasons at the club. Liverpool’s impressive form has them level on points with Manchester City at the top of the table, only trailing on goal difference.

Slot could also break new ground this weekend, as no Premier League manager has ever kept four consecutive clean sheets in their first four matches in the competition's history. Meanwhile, Liverpool haven't lost a home game immediately after an international break since 2014, when they were beaten by Aston Villa.

On the other side, Nottingham Forest, managed by Nuno Espírito Santo, are also unbeaten in the Premier League this season. After two draws and a win, Forest find themselves in ninth place, a position their fans would gladly accept come the season’s end.

Chris Wood’s header gave Forest the lead against Wolves before Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s brilliant equalizer ensured a share of the spoils. This result extended Forest’s unbeaten run in the Premier League to four matches, including a victory on the final day of last season. They’ve also won their last three away games, a streak not achieved by the club since 1995.

Despite Forest’s recent form, history is not on their side at Anfield. Liverpool have won their last three Premier League meetings with Forest and haven't lost to the Garibaldi at Anfield since 1969, during Bill Shankly's reign.

Liverpool will be confident of extending their home dominance, but Forest’s resilient start suggests they won't be pushovers.
